2020 PRIMARY ELECTION INFORMATION
PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY — TUES., MARCH 10
To have our voices heard in the 2020 Presidential Primary Election, we will have a Presidential Preference Primary that will allow registered Idaho Democrats and unaffiliated voters to vote early, absentee and at the regular polling location on Election Day.
COUNTY DELEGATE SELECTION CAUCUS — SAT., APRIL 4
Registered Idaho Democrats who would like to be a delegate to the State Convention will be elected here! You will caucus to become a state delegate for state convention. If you wish to attend National Convention, you must be elected as a State Convention Delegate.
IDAHO STATE PRIMARY — TUES., MAY 19
Any registered voter of any party in Idaho will be able to vote for US Senate, Congressional Legislative, County and Precinct Captain candidates. The deadline to change party affiliation before this election is March 13, 2020.

GENERAL VOTER INFORMATION
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN IDAHO?
In order to register to vote in Idaho, you must:
- Have been a citizen of the United States and resided in Idaho for at least one month before Election Day
- Be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day
WHEN IS THE LAST DAY I CAN REGISTER TO VOTE?
Your voter registration application must be received or postmarked no later than 30 days before Election Day.
Last Day to Pre-Register to Vote in Presidential Preference Primary Election: Friday, February 14, 2020.
Last day to Pre-Register to Vote in Idaho State Primary Election: Friday, April 24, 2020
You can still register at the polls on Election Day.
HOW CAN I CHECK IF I’M REGISTERED TO VOTE?

DO I NEED TO SHOW MY ID TO VOTE?
You are not required to present a photo ID when voting. You can sign a Personal Identification Affidavit and you will be issued a ballot to be tabulated with all other ballots.
All voters who appear at a polling place for the first time must show proof of identification. That means if you voted in Idaho in a previous election, but have moved and are now voting at a new polling location you will be required to show ID and proof of residency at the new polling location.
WHAT FORM OF VOTER ID CAN I USE TO VOTE?
Forms of photo identification may be any one of the following:
- An Idaho driver’s license or Idaho photo identification card.
- A U.S. passport or Federal photo identification card.
- A tribal photo identification card.
- A current student photo ID, issued by an Idaho high school or postsecondary education institution.
- A license to carry a concealed weapon issued by a county sheriff in Idaho.
HOW DO I FIND MY POLLING PLACE?
WHAT IF I’M AN IDAHO RESIDENT, BUT I WON’T BE IN MY ELECTION DISTRICT ON ELECTION DAY?
If you can’t make it to the polls on Election Day or would like to vote from home, you can send in an absentee ballot by mail. Idaho has no-excuse absentee voting.
March 10 Presidential Primary Election: The deadline to request your absentee ballot is 5 p.m. on Feb. 28 and your ballot must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, March 10. Fill out this form and send it to your County Clerk.
May 19 Idaho State Primary Election: The deadline to request your absentee ballot is 5 p.m. on May 8 and your ballot must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day, May 19. Fill out this form and send it to your County Clerk.
WHAT IF I’M A VETERAN, ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE MILITARY, OR CIVILIAN TRAVELING OR LIVING ABROAD?
Americans living overseas and in the military who want to vote in their home state must request their ballot every election year even if they are already registered.
