Valley County Democratic Party Celebrates January 18th Day of Action

Valley County Democratic Party will be celebrating January 18th Day of Action by encouraging people to make monetary donations to their local food banks during this time of need. Some our neighbors and friends are experiencing food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic, and food bank services are needed more than ever.

The day of action is in celebration of the Presidential Inauguration of Joe Biden and the Vice Presidential Inauguration of Kamala Harris and to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

While we are not affiliated with any food pantry, we would like to remind people where they can make donations:

Valley County Democratic Party does a number of service projects during the year in addition to electoral politics. Twice a year we do cleanup on Highway 55. Getting food to people in need is just another way to service our community.

STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN ON THE PASSING OF SUPREME COURT JUSTICE RUTH BADER GINSBURG

Tonight our nation mourns an American hero, a giant of legal doctrine, and a relentless voice in the pursuit of that highest American ideal: Equal Justice Under Law.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg stood for all of us. She fought for all of us. As a young attorney, she persisted through every challenge that an unequal system placed in her way to change the laws of our land and lead the legal charge to advance equal rights for women. It was my honor to preside over her confirmation hearings, and to strongly support her accession to the Supreme Court. In the decades since, she was consistently and reliably the voice that pierced to the heart of every issue, protected the constitutional rights of every American, and never failed in the fierce and unflinching defense of liberty and freedom. Her opinions, and her dissents, will continue to shape the basis of our law for future generations. May her memory be a blessing to all people who cherish our Constitution and its promise.

Tonight, and in the coming days, we should be focused on the loss of Justice Ginsburg and her enduring legacy. But just so there is no doubt, let me be clear: The voters should pick a President, and that President should select a successor to Justice Ginsburg. This was the position that the Republican Senate took in 2016, when there were nearly nine months before the election. That is the position the United States Senate must take now, when the election is less than two months away. We are talking about the Constitution and the Supreme Court. That institution should not be subject to politics.

Valley County Voter ID Virtual Training- Find our voters by making calls. Monday, August 24, 7-8 pm MT

We need help to call voters in Valley County from your home.  More than 35% of all voters in Idaho are registered as unaffiliated, which makes it all the more important to reach out to this voter base. When we  I.D. voters we are able to turn out democrats at election time.

A lot of volunteers ask, ?How will this help Biden win? or ?How are these calls effective in helping our local candidates win??  The answer is identifying new democrats to add to our base helps every Democratic candidate on the county, state, and national level. The more Democrats we identify, the more people we can call, text, canvass, or mail literature to the more successful our efforts will be in Idaho!

Morgan Hine, the Operations Director of the Idaho Democratic Party will lead the training. She will go over the script we use, the data base where we record the responses. and she will answer your questions.

At the end of the training we will set up a volunteer schedule for your calls from home. A few hours of your time can make a difference. If you want to make change this is one effective way you can do it.

Click here to register for the training. You will get a link in your email inbox to our zoom training on Sunday, August 23
